But you knew that right?
This morning, as I’m thinking about my body and weight loss goals (didn’t I tell you this is like a public diary? lol now you know lol) I said some not so nice things to myself. Said I was fat. I did… and eventually, my hubby said I wasn’t but too much time passed… didn’t seem sincere. I knew he was. As I was reviewing why my “weight loss” goals weren’t working or moving forward I realized that I’d been feeling trapped… catch-22’d even. You see with this body I actually feel slightly more confident than I did previously. I have curves! Everywhere! but I don’t fit my clothes the way I like… and I don’t like my full mirror image when walking past glass windows…
So during my meditation while saying my affirmations, my mouth started saying things like “I am strong” and “I am fit”… and boom! I realized that it wasn’t “weight loss” that was the issue… it was fitness and strength… I don’t feel as strong as I used to! I used to be in the Army… I had to be physically strong… do push-ups, sit-ups, planks, and other things that showed I could carry my battle buddy out of the kill zone! But I can’t do those things now… shoot, I can barely carry myself up the stairs and it’s disappointing!
But! Now I know that “weight loss” isn’t actually in alignment with what I want. Strength building and increased fitness is in alignment with the vision I have for my life and body.
In saying that it’s important for me to love and accept the woman I am, the woman I was, and the woman I am becoming.
It’s also important to get deep… deeper… deeper…deeper with what you ACTUALLY want. So often we know what we DON’T want which in my case is the seemingly extra weight and not what we DO want. Which sucks because you can only attract what you are focused on. I was focused on “not wanting the extra weight” and don’t you know I attracted more? So from now on my focus is becoming stronger than ever before and if I happen to lose weight, awesome!
Takeaway for you… if you so please!
Are you sure you know what you want? OR are you still focused on what you don’t want? Ask yourself for each area of your life “Am I focusing on what I don’t want here or what I do want?” If you don’t know what you want try envisioning your ideal life and see what’s there. And write about that. What you want will come out loud and clear!
