Traveling has always been something that fuels my soul. Getting out of the hum drum of daily living and going somewhere else, anywhere else, has led me to traveling the world. It’s the primary reason I joined the Army outside of education goals. Just keepin’ it real with you. You see, I was surrounded by poverty and violence. And I see those as contagious diseases. Getting out of it was my “inoculation”.
During my travels I learned so much about myself. What I liked and what I didn’t like. How I truly see myself. How I am with no outside influences and more. It helped me to decide that I want a life where I can up and travel to places where the culture is a vibrant representation of the people. Not so much hustle or bustle. When I travel I’m refueled. That might be because I take it easy. I don’t need to do all the things all the times. Just take in the sites and relax. I personally don’t usually have a major agenda when I travel. I just leave it open to learn more about who I am and what I like.
Takeaway for You
TRAVEL! Lol when you travel you learn so much about yourself that you won’t find out when living your hum drum life. Let travel be your vaccination against the “mundane”! You don’t have to traverse Europe (though I highly recommend it!). Even more? Travel solo. Yes it can be scary for a woman to travel alone but don’t let that stop you! Fear only means to “face everything and rise”. You go this!
In your journal make a list of 20 places you want to visit in the next 24 months. Don’t worry about if it’ll be possible or affordable or whatever. Just make the list. Then imagine yourself visiting these places and journal about how you feel and what you think you might learn about yourself. Read it out loud for the next few days and see if you don’t suddenly get a travel itch! lol I get those itches all the time… travel itches I mean lol
